MO Road, which is a prominent road in Thrissur. The road serves as the platform for Thrissur Pooram procession, Boun Natale, and at times for strikes and political meets. The redesign proposal aimed at bringing about a change in quality of space in terms of its functionality, aesthetics and safety.
Dividers, specific-colored lightings and designated spaces are proposed for pedestrian safety. Speed breakers and anti-slippery pavements are proposed to ensure safety and smooth movement. Space allocation between different modes of non-mobility activities is balanced to increase the capacity of the street.
The proposal also included place-making by adding user friendly public designs, landscape features and focal points. Smooth movement of transport was to be ensured by designing wide road sections at bus stop areas, roundabouts and ample signages.
